About Colleen

Local Roots & Education

Colleen was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has lived in Sarasota, Florida since early childhood. She attended elementary, junior high, and high school in Sarasota, graduating from Riverview High School. While working as a paralegal before and during undergraduate school, she earned her associate degree cum laude from Manatee Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy from the University of North Florida. She earned her Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law, where she served on the Moot Court Honor Board and received recognition for advanced legal writing and research.

Legal Experience

Throughout law school, Colleen worked as a law clerk in insurance defense litigation. After admission to the Florida Bar, she remained in Jacksonville and practiced in the areas of criminal defense and insurance defense litigation. She later returned to Sarasota, where she began focusing her practice exclusively on matrimonial and family law.

Focused on Family Law

Colleen represents clients in a wide range of complex family litigation matters including high net worth divorces, high-conflict custody disputes, interstate custody and jurisdictional litigation, relocations, collaborative divorce, post-judgment modifications, enforcement actions, and cases involving extended family custody. She is Certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Family Law Mediator and encourages a collaborative or cooperative approach when possible, but is fully prepared to litigate when necessary.

Recognition & Affiliations

Colleen is a member of the Florida Bar and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She is also a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the SCBA, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, and the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She has chaired the Family Law Section of the Sarasota County Bar Association since 2018. Her recognitions include being named among the “10 Best” by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys, inclusion in Super Lawyers (2020–2022), and the AV Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell. She is a graduate of the National Family Law Trial Institute and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Institute for Associates. Colleen is also a Qualified Parenting Coordinator.
